Boys & Girls Clubs in Colorado Names Colorado AG Weiser Recipient of ‘Champion of Youth Award’

Attorney General Phil Weiser

NEWS RELEASE | DENVER — April 2024 — The Boys & Girls Clubs in Colorado today announced that it has named Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser as the 2024 “Champion of Youth.”  This award is bestowed on a Colorado leader who has demonstrated support for issues impacting Colorado’s youth. Weiser will receive the award at the Boys & Girls Clubs in Colorado’s Youth of the Year event in Denver on April 16.

Weiser is serving his second term as the 39th attorney general of the state of Colorado. Since becoming the state’s chief legal officer in 2019, Weiser has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to serving the people of Colorado, advancing the rule of law, protecting democracy, and promoting justice. In particular, he has made youth mental health a central focus in his second term, including leading multistate investigations into Meta and TikTok for their impact on our children’s well-being, suing Juul Labs and securing $31.7 million for vaping cessation, prevention, and youth mental health programs.

Weiser is the 10th recipient of the Champion of the Year Award.

“I am humbled and honored to receive the Boys and Girls Club Champion of Youth Award,” Weiser said. “Supporting youth mental health has never been more important than it is today. As attorney general, I am proud to partner with the Boys & Girls Clubs in Colorado in meaningful work addressing youth mental health and enhancing opportunities for a promising future for our kids.”

Kaycee Headrick, Executive Director, Boys & Girls Clubs in Colorado, commented. “Our organization and the 80-plus Boys & Girls Clubs statewide really appreciate everything Attorney General Weiser and his team has done to support, advocate and elevate Colorado’s youth and future leaders.
